The Role
- Serve as the hospital-based medical leader for a small group of general practice clinics in the Pittsburgh area; this is a full-time, working-manager position with regular clinical time
- Coach, develop, and retain associate veterinarians; lead onboarding and mentorship for early-career doctors
- Build an inclusive, collaborative culture in partnership with practice management to deliver high-quality, client-centered care
- Validate clinical standards through medical record reviews, case discussions, audits, and follow-up on patient safety events
- Act as the responsible veterinarian as required by law; ensure compliant management of controlled substances
- Drive preventive care adoption and an excellent client experience; resolve escalated medical concerns in a timely manner
- Support recruiting efforts; host externs and student observers to build the talent pipeline
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including radiation safety and pharmacy controls
- Monitor hospital performance metrics and execute plans that align medical quality with operational outcomes
- Oversee medical equipment needs and maintenance in coordination with leadership
- Schedule includes some weekend coverage and local travel between assigned clinics

Requirements
- DVM or VMD degree from an accredited veterinary school
- Active Pennsylvania veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain)
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)
- Proven clinical skills in general practice, including routine surgery and dentistry
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience mentoring or managing veterinarians preferred
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills; comfort with digital medical records and practice software
- Ability to travel locally between assigned clinics as needed
