A progressive and well-established small animal hospital in Lost Creek, Austin, TX is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join its experienced and supportive team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian looking for high-quality medicine, advanced diagnostics, strong mentorship, and an outstanding work-life balance. Both full-time and part-time schedules are available, with no weekend requirement.

The hospital provides an interesting and varied caseload, allowing veterinarians to practise high-quality medicine while continuing to develop their clinical skills.

Cases include:
  • General practice consultations
  • Routine and complex medical cases
  • Soft tissue surgery
  • Daytime urgent and emergency cases
  • Complex medical workups prior to referral
  • Advanced diagnostic investigations

There is also an opportunity to work with exotic species, including pocket pets, reptiles, pot-bellied pigs, pygmy goats, and other larger exotics. Exotics currently account for approximately 5% of the caseload, with opportunities for this area to grow.

Advanced Equipment & Diagnostics

The hospital is modern and well equipped, with access to:
  • Endoscopy
  • Colonoscopy
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Rhinoscopy
  • Echocardiography
  • Diagnostic ultrasound
  • FAST scans
  • Cancer screening
  • Advanced medical and surgical workups

The team regularly manages complex cases in-house, including advanced imaging, ultrasound, scoping procedures, orthopaedics, and extensive medical workups before referral for services such as CT or chemotherapy.

Mentorship & Career Development

The hospital is committed to supporting veterinarians at all stages of their careers.

Candidates should have basic competency in routine soft tissue surgery and a willingness to continue developing their surgical skills. Ongoing mentorship, structured teaching, and hands-on support in the surgery suite are available to help build confidence and clinical capability.

Experienced veterinarians will generally have 30-minute appointments, with flexibility to accommodate walk-in urgent and emergency cases when appropriate.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will:
  • Hold, or be eligible to obtain, a Texas veterinary license
  • Have a strong interest in practising high-quality medicine
  • Possess good communication and teamwork skills
  • Be committed to excellent patient and client care
  • Enjoy working within a collaborative team
  • Have a positive attitude and desire to continue learning
  • Be comfortable with routine soft tissue surgery or motivated to develop further surgical skills
