The Role
- Balance hands-on clinical practice with medical leadership, spending the majority of time in direct patient care
- Set and uphold medical quality standards; champion patient safety and client satisfaction
- Mentor and develop associate veterinarians; provide coaching, feedback, and performance reviews
- Collaborate closely with practice management to optimize scheduling, workflows, and team utilization
- Guide case discussions, lead doctor meetings, and refine medical protocols
- Oversee compliance areas including controlled substances, DEA requirements, and radiation safety
- Ensure accurate, timely medical records and appropriate, compliant billing
- Maintain organized inventory and support proper equipment use and maintenance
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding of veterinarians
- Engage with the local community through outreach and client education
- Enjoy a diverse case mix, including wellness, dentistry, general surgery, urgent care, and exotics

Requirements
- DVM/VMD (or equivalent) from an accredited institution
- Active license to practice in Alabama (or ability to obtain)
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- DEA registration and any required state-controlled substance permits (or ability to obtain)
- 3-5 years of clinical experience preferred
- Prior leadership, mentoring, or team development experience preferred
- Strong communication skills and a client-centered approach
- Comfort with small-animal general practice; experience with exotics welcomed but not required
- Ability to commit to approximately 35 hours per week
