The Role
- Serve as the clinical leader and medical voice of the practice, setting and modeling high standards of care
- Split time primarily between hands-on clinical duties and leadership responsibilities
- Mentor, coach, and develop veterinarians; support growth of RVTs, assistants, and client care teams
- Lead regular doctor meetings, align protocols, and facilitate case reviews
- Ensure accurate, timely medical records and excellent client communication
- Partner with the Practice Manager on hospital priorities, scheduling, and workflow optimization
- Oversee medical equipment use and maintenance; help manage inventory and cost controls
- Maintain regulatory compliance, including controlled substance oversight and radiation safety responsibilities
- Support community outreach to strengthen client relationships and practice presence
- Collaborate on recruiting and onboarding veterinary talent
- Participate in a Saturday rotation consistent with hospital hours

Requirements
- DVM/VMD (or equivalent) from an accredited institution
- Active California veterinary license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Active DEA registration and applicable state-controlled substance permits
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- 3-5+ years of clinical small-animal experience; prior leadership experience preferred
- Proficiency in general practice medicine, dentistry, and routine soft-tissue surgery
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and team leadership skills
- Comfort working a schedule that includes some Saturdays
