The Role
- Serve as the clinical leader who sets and upholds medical standards, models excellent patient care, and champions a positive, team-first culture
- Split time primarily in direct patient care while providing hands-on leadership and guidance to doctors and support staff
- Mentor, coach, and develop veterinarians; support strong client communication; ensure accurate, timely medical records
- Lead doctor meetings, align medical protocols, support case reviews, and promote continuous quality improvement
- Partner with the practice manager on scheduling, workflow efficiency, and utilization so the team works at the top of its training
- Oversee medical equipment use and upkeep, and support inventory management
- Ensure regulatory compliance, including controlled substance oversight and radiation safety
- Engage with the local community through education and outreach to enhance access to care
- Collaborate on recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding veterinarians

Requirements
- DVM/VMD (or equivalent) and license to practice in Vermont (or eligibility to obtain)
- Active DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain) and compliance with applicable controlled substance regulations
- Minimum 3-5 years of small-animal clinical experience; prior leadership or team lead experience preferred
- Strong surgical, dental, and general medicine skills; excellent communication and record-keeping
- Ability to work collaboratively, lead by example, and nurture a high-performing team
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- Availability to commit to a minimum of 35 hours per week
