Veterinarian Medical Director

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity combining clinical autonomy, team development and medical leadership while allowing you to remain actively involved in patient care. With a four-day workweek, no on-call responsibilities and a sign-on bonus of up to $75,000, the position offers an attractive balance between career progression and life outside the hospital.

About the Practice

This full-service small animal hospital provides comprehensive medical, surgical and preventative care alongside treatment for select small exotic pets.
The hospital combines modern clinical resources with an experienced technician team, giving veterinarians strong support across appointments, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery and hospitalized patient care.

The hospital's technician team plays an active role across anesthesia monitoring, surgical and dental assistance, diagnostics, patient nursing and client education, allowing veterinarians to focus more of their time on clinical decision-making and patient care.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on Medical Director position for an experienced veterinarian who wants greater influence over clinical standards, team development and the continued progression of the hospital while maintaining their own general practice caseload.
You'll continue practicing across wellness medicine, diagnostics, dentistry and soft tissue surgery while providing medical leadership to the wider veterinary team.

Leadership responsibilities will include:

•Establishing and maintaining high clinical standards
•Developing and reviewing medical protocols
•Supporting medical record quality and consistency
•Overseeing appropriate controlled substance procedures
•Mentoring and coaching veterinarians
•Supporting the development of technicians and clinical staff
•Leading DVM recruitment and participating in candidate interviews
•Partnering with hospital management on budgeting and inventory
•Evaluating equipment and clinical resource requirements
•Monitoring key hospital performance indicators
•Supporting regulatory and clinical compliance
•Addressing escalated clinical and client concerns
•Encouraging strong communication across the hospital
•Building a positive, collaborative team culture

The position provides genuine scope to influence how medicine is delivered while still allowing you to remain closely connected to patients, clients and day-to-day clinical practice.

You'll work a four-day week with no on-call responsibilities, providing a more sustainable schedule alongside the additional responsibilities that come with medical leadership.
