The Role
Full-time leadership position overseeing medical quality, doctor development, and client experience across assigned local clinics.
- Lead, coach, and retain associate veterinarians; conduct regular check-ins and development planning to support growth and performance
- Partner with practice management to meet clinical quality and operational goals while maintaining a culture of teamwork and accountability
- Oversee onboarding and experiential training for newly hired veterinarians, including clinical, surgical, and dental skill development
- Serve as the responsible veterinarian for applicable permits as needed; ensure compliant controlled substance management, including oversight for relief doctors
- Ensure regulatory compliance and clinical excellence through medical record reviews, patient safety evaluations, and adherence to local, state, and federal guidelines, including radiation safety
- Support recruiting efforts and represent the clinics within the local veterinary community; deliver a positive experience to externs and candidates during clinic visits
- Validate and develop technical skills among veterinary technicians and assistants; implement targeted training plans
- Promote preventive care and client education; help resolve escalated client concerns related to standards of care
- Manage medical equipment needs and maintenance requests in collaboration with leadership
- Provide direct patient care in general practice, routine surgery, and dentistry as part of the clinical schedule

Requirements
- DVM or VMD degree from an accredited institution
- Active Illinois veterinary license (or ability to obtain promptly)
- Eligibility for DEA registration and thorough knowledge of controlled substance regulations
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Proven clinical experience in small animal practice, including routine surgery and dentistry; prior leadership or mentoring experience preferred
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with proficiency in digital medical records and imaging
- Ability to travel among assigned local clinics as needed; availability for a schedule that may include some weekends due to seven-day operations
