The Role
- Lead and coach associate veterinarians across assigned hospitals to elevate clinical standards, teamwork and engagement.
- Set and maintain high-quality medical practices through case discussions, medical record reviews and feedback.
- Partner with practice leadership to support culture, workflow, client experience and operational goals.
- Oversee onboarding and skills development for newly hired doctors, including surgical and dental proficiency.
- Provide direct patient care a portion of the time, emphasizing preventive medicine, diagnostics and general surgery.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, including controlled substances management and adherence to state and federal requirements.
- Support recruitment efforts and serve as a positive presence in the local veterinary community.
- Manage medical equipment needs and help prioritize requests for clinical resources.
- Schedule includes weekday coverage with some weekend rotation; full-time, hospital-based leadership role.

Requirements
- DVM/VMD degree from an accredited institution.
- Active California veterinary license (or eligibility and ability to obtain prior to start).
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Proven experience leading veterinarians and clinical teams in a small-animal setting.
- Competence in routine soft-tissue surgery and dentistry.
- Strong communication, coaching and organizational skills; comfort in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
- DEA license eligibility and understanding of controlled substance management.
