The Role
- Provide medical leadership across assigned local hospitals, fostering a supportive, inclusive culture that enables doctors and teams to thrive.
- Mentor, coach, and develop associate veterinarians; oversee onboarding to build clinical, surgical, and dental confidence.
- Balance leadership with clinical time; deliver high-quality patient care while modeling best practices.
- Partner with practice managers to drive medical standards, operations, and client experience results.
- Conduct medical record reviews, quality audits, and patient safety event reviews; create action plans to close gaps.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including controlled substances, radiation safety, and medical recordkeeping.
- Act as Responsible Veterinarian for permits as needed; manage controlled substance protocols.
- Recruit and retain veterinary talent; build a robust leadership pipeline and succession plans.
- Champion preventive care and access to care; support resolution of client concerns.
- Manage medical equipment needs and maintenance planning in collaboration with leadership.

Requirements
- DVM/VMD degree from an accredited institution.
- Active Maryland veterinary license (or ability to obtain promptly).
- Current DEA registration (or eligibility) and proficiency in controlled substance management.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing veterinarians and clinical teams.
- Proficiency in general practice medicine, routine surgery, and dentistry.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfort working some weekend or evening shifts consistent with a community practice schedule.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally between assigned hospitals as needed.
