The Role
Full-time, hospital-based leadership with a blend of people leadership and clinical practice. The Area Chief of Staff Veterinarian will:
- Lead, coach, and develop associate veterinarians across assigned hospitals to deliver consistent, high-quality care
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative culture in partnership with practice leadership
- Drive medical quality through case reviews, medical record audits, and patient safety initiatives
- Provide veterinary services as a working manager, including routine surgery and dentistry
- Oversee onboarding and coaching programs for newly hired veterinarians to build clinical and client communication skills
- Partner with recruitment teams to attract and select strong veterinary talent; support externs and candidates during hospital visits
- Guide hospital performance goals, translating quality medicine into measurable outcomes
- Ensure regulatory compliance including controlled substance management and radiation safety
- Support client experience standards and timely resolution of medical concerns
- Manage medical equipment needs and maintenance planning in alignment with hospital priorities
- Champion preventive care and clear client education throughout the patient journey

Requirements
- DVM or VMD degree from an accredited institution
- License to practice veterinary medicine in California (or eligibility to obtain)
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- Proven leadership experience mentoring veterinarians and clinical teams
- Proficiency in general medicine, routine surgery, and dentistry
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to medical quality, client service, and team development
