The Role
- Serve as the clinical leader of the hospital, setting and upholding standards for medical quality and client service
- Provide the majority of time in direct patient care across wellness, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, urgent care, and internal medicine
- Mentor, coach, and supervise associate veterinarians; lead case discussions and regular doctor meetings
- Partner with the Practice Manager to align scheduling, workflows, inventory, and equipment maintenance to optimize efficiency and care
- Ensure accurate, timely medical records and appropriate, compliant charging
- Oversee controlled substance management and regulatory compliance; act as Radiation Safety Officer as needed
- Engage with the local community through education, outreach, and initiatives that support access to quality care
- Collaborate on recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding veterinary talent
- Foster an inclusive, solutions-focused culture where team members work at the top of their training and licensure
- Full-time position; typical commitment of at least 35 hours per week

Requirements
- DVM/VMD (or equivalent) from an accredited institution
- Active or eligible license to practice veterinary medicine in Rhode Island
- DEA registration and applicable state controlled substance authorization (or eligibility to obtain)
- 3–5 years of clinical experience; prior leadership or mentoring experience preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and teamwork skills
- Eligibility to work in the United States
