Veterinarian

Global Talent Partners is excited to present a rare opportunity for an experienced Small Animal Veterinarian to become the Founding DVM and Medical Leader of a brand-new primary care practice in Jersey City, New Jersey.

This is much more than an associate position. You'll have the opportunity to help build a practice from the ground up, shape the medical culture, influence clinical standards and ultimately have an equity stake in the business.

The Opportunity

This newly established practice is preparing to open in Jersey City, with the facility expected to be ready within the next few months.
The practice will focus on high-quality primary care for dogs and cats, with a modern, purpose-built feel and plenty of room to grow.
You'll have significant medical autonomy and the opportunity to play a genuine leadership role as the practice develops.

The ideal candidate will have:

•23+ years of clinical experience in small animal general practice
•Confidence working independently and managing cases from consultation through treatment
•A strong interest in primary care medicine
•An ambitious, entrepreneurial mindset
•The desire to help build something rather than simply step into an established structure
•Excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in client relationships
•A willingness to take ownership of the clinical direction of a growing practice

This position would suit a veterinarian who is ready to take the next step into clinical leadership, practice development and potential ownership.

The Practice

The facility is being converted from an existing dental office and is designed to provide a spacious, comfortable environment for both clients and the veterinary team.

Planned facilities include:

•4 examination rooms
•Dedicated surgery and dental room
•Separate digital X-ray room
•Large staff break room
•Spacious outdoor/backyard area
•Routine surgical capabilities
•Modern primary care setup
•Opportunity to develop the practice's services as the caseload grows

There is also scope for mentorship and team development as the practice expands, with additional veterinary and support staff currently being recruited.

Your Role

As the founding veterinarian, you will have the opportunity to influence virtually every aspect of the medical side of the business.
You'll be involved in:

•General wellness and preventative medicine
•Internal medicine
•Dentistry
•Routine soft-tissue surgery
•Diagnostics
•Chronic disease management
•Client education
•Developing clinical protocols and standards
•Helping recruit and develop the wider veterinary team

Appointments are structured around 30-minute consultations, allowing time for thorough patient assessment and meaningful client communication.
There is no out-of-hours requirement and no expectation to work across multiple locations.
Because you will initially have an element of sole-charge responsibility, confidence and clinical independence are important.

Compensation & Benefits

•$130,000$180,000 base salary, dependent on experience
•Equity opportunity
•Additional bonuses linked to overall clinical performance
•Medical license fees covered
•Flexible PTO, with 2 weeks initially and flexibility depending on the candidate
•Continuing education supported on a case-by-case basis
•Significant medical autonomy
•Leadership opportunity from day one
•Opportunity to help build and grow the practice
•Potential mentorship and team-development responsibilities
•No out-of-hours rota

Why Jersey City?

Jersey City offers an excellent combination of urban lifestyle, accessibility and proximity to Manhattan. The Journal Square area is a rapidly developing, diverse and energetic part of the city, with restaurants, cafés, retail, cultural attractions and residential developments all within easy reach.
For those wanting access to New York City without living in Manhattan, the location is particularly attractive. Journal Square PATH provides direct connections into Manhattan, while NJ Transit and local bus services provide wider regional connectivity.
Jersey City also offers a genuinely urban lifestyle while remaining part of the wider Northern New Jersey community, making it an appealing option for a veterinarian who wants city living, career progression and easy access to NYC.

Ready to Build Something?

This is an opportunity for an ambitious veterinarian to get involved at the ground level of a new practice, rather than inheriting someone else's structure.
If you're looking for medical autonomy, leadership responsibility, equity and the chance to shape a practice from day one, this could be an excellent next step.
