Veterinarian Medical Director

Global Talent Partners is pleased to represent an established small animal hospital in St. Mary's County, Maryland, seeking an ambitious and collaborative Medical Director to join its experienced team.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a veterinarian who wants to take the next step into clinical leadership while continuing to practice medicine. You'll have the opportunity to influence the medical direction, standards and culture of the hospital with the autonomy of an owner, without the financial risk and responsibilities of ownership.

Importantly, you won't be expected to do it alone. You'll have the support of a wider veterinary organization with dedicated resources across operations, marketing, human resources, payroll and other areas, allowing you to focus on medicine, people and patient care.

The Opportunity

You'll join an established hospital with a collaborative team consisting of:

•5 DVMs
•8 Veterinary Assistants
•4 Client Service Representatives
•Dedicated Hospital Manager

This is a well-supported clinical environment where collaboration, mentorship and knowledge sharing are encouraged.
The hospital is AAHA accredited and committed to maintaining high standards of veterinary medicine, patient care and client service.

As Medical Director, you'll have the opportunity to:

•Establish and maintain high medical standards
•Influence the hospital's clinical direction
•Support and mentor fellow veterinarians
•Encourage clinical collaboration and knowledge sharing
•Develop and improve medical protocols
•Promote continuing education
•Help develop the next generation of veterinary professionals
•Contribute to recruitment and retention of clinical talent
•Work alongside the Hospital Manager to strengthen hospital performance
•Continue seeing patients and practicing clinical medicine

The position is designed for a veterinarian who enjoys leading from the front and wants to make a meaningful difference to both patient care and the veterinary team.

The hospital is fully equipped to provide comprehensive companion animal medicine, with access to a strong range of in-house diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including:

•In-house laboratory
•Digital radiography
•Digital dental radiography
•Ultrasonography
•Endoscopy

•Modern surgical capabilities
•Comprehensive preventative and medical care

The caseload encompasses both sick and wellness patients, providing variety and allowing you to maintain a broad clinical skill set.

Mentorship & Professional Development

Although this is a Medical Director position, the hospital maintains a strong culture of mentorship and continuous learning.
Experienced veterinarians will have the opportunity to share their knowledge and develop the wider team, while students and new graduates are also supported through dedicated mentorship.

Schedule

The hospital offers flexibility around scheduling and is open to discussing both full-time and part-time arrangements.

Current operating hours are:

•MondayFriday: 8:00am6:00pm
•Saturday: 8:00am1:00pm
•Sunday: Closed

There is flexibility around shifts, allowing the position to be structured around the right candidate wherever possible.

Compensation & Benefits

The Medical Director will receive a competitive compensation package of approximately $130,000$160,000 annually, depending on experience, skills and credentials.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a veterinarian who is ready to take on greater responsibility and influence the future direction of a hospital.
You may already have Medical Director or leadership experience, or you could be an experienced Associate Veterinarian ready to make the transition into management and clinical leadership.

A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited university is required, along with a Maryland veterinary license or eligibility to obtain one.
