Medical Director

Global Talent Partners is excited to present an opportunity for an experienced Veterinarian to step into a Medical Director position with an established small animal and exotics hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

This position combines hands-on clinical medicine with meaningful leadership responsibility, giving you the opportunity to mentor fellow veterinarians, influence medical standards and help shape the continued development of the hospital. You'll remain actively involved with patients while working closely with practice management to create an efficient, collaborative and supportive clinical environment.

With a varied caseload, modern diagnostic resources and experienced technical support, this is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian looking to progress into leadership without stepping away from clinical practice.

About the Practice
This full-service hospital provides comprehensive veterinary care for dogs and cats alongside optional exposure to exotic species, including birds, reptiles and pocket pets.

The clinical environment is supported by experienced veterinary technicians, client service professionals and practice leadership, with modern technology helping doctors investigate cases efficiently and deliver high-quality patient care.
Services and clinical capabilities include:
•Wellness and preventative medicine
•Comprehensive medical consultations
•Internal medicine
•Urgent care
•General and soft tissue surgery
•Comprehensive dentistry
•Exotic animal medicine
•Digital radiography
•Diagnostic ultrasound
•In-house laboratory diagnostics
•Dedicated dental facilities
•Anesthetic and patient monitoring
•Modern practice management technology
•Client education and preventative healthcare
•Boarding and daycare services
Exotics experience is welcomed but is not essential, making this an opportunity for a veterinarian who wants to continue focusing primarily on companion animal medicine while having the option to broaden their caseload.

The Opportunity
As Medical Director, you'll spend the majority of your time practising medicine while also providing clinical leadership and mentorship to the wider veterinary team.

Your responsibilities will include:
•Managing your own medical, surgical and dental caseload
•Providing clinical leadership to fellow veterinarians
•Maintaining high medical and patient safety standards
•Mentoring and developing veterinary colleagues
•Leading doctor meetings and collaborative case discussions
•Providing coaching, feedback and professional development
•Partnering with practice management on scheduling and workflows
•Supporting effective utilization of the clinical support team
•Reviewing and developing medical protocols
•Supporting veterinarian recruitment and onboarding
•Maintaining appropriate controlled substance and DEA protocols
•Supporting radiation safety and regulatory compliance
•Promoting accurate medical recordkeeping
•Supporting appropriate equipment use and maintenance
•Participating in community outreach and client education
•Opportunity to work with exotic species if desired
