The Role
- Perform elective and emergency soft tissue and orthopedic procedures, including arthroscopy, colic and airway surgeries, laparoscopy, wound reconstruction, and reproductive or urogenital surgeries
- Manage surgical referral cases from intake to discharge, including comprehensive exams, workups, and detailed medical records
- Collaborate closely with internal medicine, sports medicine, imaging, and ambulatory teams to deliver coordinated care
- Consult with referring veterinarians and communicate clearly with clients regarding diagnostics, treatment plans, and outcomes
- Participate in a surgical on-call rotation - no ER on-call required
- Contribute to hospital rounds, protocol development, quality assurance, and staff training
- Adhere to pharmacy and controlled substance protocols and support efficient, team-based case management

Requirements
- DVM or VMD from an accredited institution
- Board-certified in equine surgery or residency-trained and board-eligible
- Active Illinois veterinary license or ability to obtain
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- DEA registration or eligibility to obtain
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and team-oriented approach
- Ability to meet the physical demands of equine practice
