An exciting opportunity is available for a Board-Certified Veterinary Neurologist / Neurosurgeon or a Residency-Trained Clinician eligible for specialist certification to join a growing multidisciplinary referral hospital in Adelaide, South Australia.

This is a full-time position within a modern, purpose-built specialist facility that is expanding its Neurology and Neurosurgery service. The hospital offers a highly collaborative environment where specialists work closely across disciplines to deliver advanced, patient-centred care.

The successful candidate will join an established clinical team and play a key role alongside an existing Neurology Specialist, contributing to the continued growth and development of a leading referral service in the region.

Neurology & Neurosurgery Facilities

The Team

You will be joining a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team including:

  • Neurology and Neurosurgery Specialists
  • Emergency and Critical Care Clinicians
  • Internal Medicine Specialists
  • Soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeons
  • Oncology and diagnostic imaging teams
  • Dermatology, ophthalmology and rehabilitation services
  • Highly experienced veterinary nursing and ICU support staff

The Role

As a Veterinary Neurology & Neurosurgery Specialist, you will work alongside an existing specialist to deliver advanced neurological care across a diverse referral caseload.

You will be responsible for diagnosing and managing complex neurological conditions, performing advanced neurosurgical procedures, and collaborating with other disciplines to deliver integrated treatment plans.

This role also provides opportunities to contribute to service development, clinical mentoring and multidisciplinary teaching within a growing specialist environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing and managing complex neurological and neurosurgical cases.
  • Performing advanced neurosurgical procedures where appropriate.
  • Interpreting MRI, CT, EMG and EEG diagnostics.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary specialists on complex cases.
  • Providing specialist consultations and treatment planning.
  • Supporting and mentoring interns, residents and clinical staff.
  • Contributing to the development of neurology protocols and service expansion.
  • Participating in teaching, training and clinical education initiatives.

What We're Looking For

Essential
  • Board-certified Neurologist / Neurosurgeon (ACVIM, ECVN, FANZCVS or equivalent), or residency-trained veterinarian eligible for specialist certification.
  • Eligibility for veterinary registration in South Australia.
  • Strong clinical expertise in neurology and neurosurgery.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary referral environment.
  • Commitment to clinical excellence, teamwork and compassionate care.

Desirable
  • Experience in referral or specialist hospital settings.
  • Interest in teaching, mentoring or residency training.
  • Contribution to service development or clinical leadership.
