The Role - Provide advanced emergency and critical care for small animals within a 24/7 hospital, including oversight of ICU patients and support for complex medical and surgical cases - Lead and participate in triage, stabilization, diagnostics, treatment planning, and ongoing critical care management - Collaborate closely with emergency clinicians, surgery, internal medicine, and support teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care - Consult with and support referring veterinarians, including timely communication and case updates - Contribute to hospital rounds, protocols, and best-practice guidelines, with opportunities to mentor clinicians and technologists - Participate in a shared schedule that may include days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays typical of a 24/7 service
Requirements - DVM or equivalent, eligible for licensure with the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association - Eligibility to work in Canada - Board-certified in Emergency and Critical Care, or residency trained and board-eligible - Demonstrated strength in collaborative, team-based medicine with excellent communication skills - Comfortable managing multiple high-acuity cases in a fast-paced, triage-driven environment - Leadership experience or interest in mentoring and clinical protocol development is welcomed
