The Role

As a Surgery Specialist, you will work within an experienced multidisciplinary referral team, providing advanced surgical care for companion animals across a varied referral caseload.

You'll collaborate closely with specialists in emergency and critical care, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia and other disciplines to deliver the highest standards of patient care.

This role offers the opportunity to perform a broad range of orthopaedic, soft tissue and minimally invasive procedures while contributing to the continued growth and development of the surgical service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing complex referral surgical cases.
  • Performing advanced orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures.
  • Utilising minimally invasive surgical techniques where appropriate.
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary specialists.
  • Providing exceptional communication with referring veterinarians and clients.
  • Mentoring interns, residents and junior clinicians.
  • Contributing to clinical excellence and ongoing service development.

What We're Looking For

Applications are welcomed from candidates who:

  • Hold Diplomate status (ACVS, ECVS) or Fellowship (ANZCVS) in Small Animal Surgery.
  • Have completed an approved Small Animal Surgery residency and are eligible to sit board examinations.
  • Demonstrate excellent surgical and clinical decision-making skills.
