About the Role

As a Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialist, you will play a vital role in diagnosing and managing a wide variety of complex medical cases, working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team to deliver the highest standards of specialist veterinary care.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing specialist consultations and comprehensive medical examinations.
  • Investigating and managing complex internal medicine cases.

  • Developing individual treatment plans for referred patients.
  • Utilising specialised diagnostic and medical equipment.
  • Collaborating with specialists across surgery, oncology, emergency and critical care.
  • Providing clear communication and ongoing support to referring veterinarians and pet owners.
  • Contributing to the continued development of the Internal Medicine service.
  • Mentoring interns, residents and junior clinicians where appropriate.

The Internal Medicine service manages a diverse referral caseload across a broad range of disciplines, including:

What We're Looking For

We welcome applications from candidates who possess:

Essential

  • Diplomate status with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS), ACVIM, ECVIM or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Eligibility for veterinary registration in Australia.
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship abilities.
  • A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary patient care.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional clinical outcomes.

Desirable

  • Experience mentoring interns, residents or junior veterinarians.
