An exciting opportunity is available for a Board-Certified Emergency & Critical Care Specialist or Residency-Trained ECC Veterinarian to join a well-established, multidisciplinary referral and emergency hospital in Sydney.

This is a full-time position within a modern, purpose-built specialist facility delivering round-the-clock emergency, referral and critical care services. The hospital is recognised for its collaborative culture, high clinical standards and commitment to advancing specialist veterinary medicine.

The successful candidate will join a highly experienced multidisciplinary team and play a key role in leading and shaping the Emergency & Critical Care service within a growing specialist environment.

  • Dedicated Intensive Care Unit with ventilatory support

The Team

You will be joining a highly experienced multidisciplinary specialist team, including:

  • Senior Emergency & Critical Care Specialists
  • Soft tissue, orthopaedic and spinal surgeons
  • Internal Medicine specialists with advanced subspecialty interests
  • Oncology and interventional medicine expertise
  • Experienced ECC veterinarians and specialist nursing teams

The team is known for its collaborative approach, clinical excellence and commitment to patient-focused care.

The Role

As an Emergency & Critical Care Specialist, you will take a lead role in managing complex emergency and critically ill patients within a fast-paced referral environment.

You will work closely with specialists across multiple disciplines to deliver coordinated, high-quality patient care, while supporting the development of ECC protocols, service delivery and clinical standards.

This role also offers opportunities to contribute to teaching, mentorship and the development of future training pathways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the management of complex emergency and critical care cases.
  • Delivering advanced ECC consultations and treatment plans.
  • Overseeing ICU case management and clinical decision-making.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary specialists on complex cases.
  • Supporting and mentoring ECC clinicians, interns and residents.
  • Contributing to ECC service development and clinical protocols.
  • Participating in teaching, training and professional development initiatives.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of patient care and clinical governance.

What We're Looking For

Essential
  • Board-certified ECC Specialist (ACVECC, FANZCVS or equivalent), or residency-trained ECC veterinarian.
  • Eligibility for veterinary registration in Australia (AVBC-approved qualification required).
  • Strong clinical expertise in emergency and critical care medicine.
  • Excellent decision-making and communication skills in high-pressure environments.
  • A collaborative, team-focused approach to patient care.
  • Commitment to mentorship, teaching and continuous improvement.

Desirable
  • Previous experience in leadership or service development.
  • Interest in training programs, residency supervision or academic contribution.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary referral hospitals.
