The hospital is staffed 24/7 with onsite specialists across surgery, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, and other key disciplines. Our specialists are supported by an outstanding team of interns, nurses, HR, and client services staff.

About the Role

Our Small Animal Surgeons play a key role in delivering advanced soft tissue, orthopaedic, and minimally invasive surgical procedures, working closely with a multidisciplinary specialist team to provide the highest standard of patient care.

We are seeking a dynamic team player who is willing to collaborate across all departments while contributing to the continued growth of a first-class surgical service. Subspecialty interests are strongly supported and encouraged.

What You'll Do

  • Perform a wide range of soft tissue and orthopaedic surgical procedures
  • Develop and implement advanced surgical treatment plans
  • Collaborate closely with internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, emergency, and anaesthesia teams
  • Provide guidance and supervision to residents, interns, and nursing staff
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding surgical care and outcomes
  • Contribute to clinical development, innovation, and service improvement initiatives
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and rounds
  • Maintain high standards of perioperative patient care in collaboration with the clinical team

What We're Looking For

  • Veterinary degree registrable in Victoria, or willingness to apply for special registration and sit the Australasian Veterinary Examination
  • Specialist qualification in Small Animal Surgery (FANZCVS, ECVS, or ACVS), currently registered or eligible for specialist registration in Victoria
  • Residency-trained candidates will also be considered
  • Significant experience in all areas of small animal surgery
  • Strong commitment to high-quality patient care

  • Ability to lead, mentor, and support junior staff
