Key Duties

A Veterinary Medical Director is responsible for overseeing the medical operations and staff of a veterinary clinic, hospital, or organization

  • Developing protocols and policies: The Veterinary Medical Director must develop and implement protocols and policies for the veterinary practice to ensure that all staff members follow the same guidelines for animal care, handling, and record-keeping
  • Overseeing the budget: The Veterinary Medical Director is responsible for managing the budget of the veterinary practice, including expenses such as salaries, equipment, and supplies

Key Skills, Qualifications & Client Requirements

  • Veterinary degree: The Veterinary Medical Director must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution and a license to practice veterinary medicine
