Key Duties

  • Diagnosing and treating neurological disorders in animals
  • Performing neuroimaging, neurodiagnostic tests and neurosurgery
  • Examining animals to identify signs of neurological problems
  • Communicating with owners and referring veterinarians
  • Staying current with developments in veterinary neurology.

Key Skills, Qualifications & Client Requirements

  • Advanced degree in veterinary medicine (DVM or equivalent)
  • Completion of a rigorous residency program in veterinary neurology
  • Board certification by a veterinary specialty organization (e.g. ACVIM, ECVN)
  • Knowledge of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and neuropharmacology
  • Proficient in advanced imaging techniques (MRI, CT)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with clients and other veterinary professionals
